What this covers

These terms apply to your use of the Lapiz macOS application, the Lightbox web tool, and lapiz.dev. By downloading, installing, or using Lapiz, or by using Lightbox, you agree to these terms.

2.

2.

The product

Lightbox is free, requires no account, and runs entirely in your browser.

Lapiz is a macOS application sold under two options:

  • Lapiz — one-time purchase. A single payment grants a permanent license to the app. You continue to receive bug fixes and small improvements indefinitely, with no further payment required, for as long as you own that license.

  • Lapiz + Updates — annual subscription. In addition to everything in the one-time purchase, an active subscription unlocks new features as they ship. If a subscription lapses or isn’t renewed, your license to the app itself is unaffected — you keep everything you had, including bug fixes; you simply stop receiving new feature unlocks until you renew.

Payment processing, invoicing, and subscription management are handled by Polar (polar.sh), acting as Merchant of Record. By purchasing, you also agree to Polar’s terms of service.

3.

License grant

Subject to these terms and payment of the applicable fee, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use Lapiz on devices you own or control, for as long as your license remains valid under Section 2. You may not resell, sublicense, or redistribute the application or your license key.

4.

4.

Right of withdrawal (EU/EEA consumers)

If you’re a consumer in the EU/EEA, you generally have a 14-day right to withdraw from a digital purchase without giving a reason. Because Lapiz is delivered immediately upon purchase (a license key, usable right away), this right may not apply once you’ve expressly requested immediate access and acknowledged that doing so waives the withdrawal right — this consent is captured as part of Polar’s checkout flow. Outside of that waiver, or if you believe something’s genuinely wrong with what you received, contact [CONTACT EMAIL] — we’d rather sort it out directly than point you at fine print.

5.

5.

Acceptable use

Don’t use Lapiz to record or capture content you don’t have the right to capture, to violate anyone’s privacy, or to break the law. Don’t attempt to circumvent the license/activation system. Don’t reverse-engineer, decompile, or redistribute the application outside of what your license permits.

6.

6.

Availability and changes

We aim to keep Lapiz and Lightbox working well, but we don’t guarantee uninterrupted availability, and features may change, be added, or be removed over time — new-feature entitlement specifically tracks an active Lapiz + Updates subscription as described in Section 2.

7.

7.

Disclaimer of warranties

Lapiz and Lightbox are provided “as is,” without warranty of any kind, express or implied, to the maximum extent permitted by law. We don’t warrant that the software will be error-free or meet every specific need you might have.

8.

8.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we’re not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of Lapiz or Lightbox. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t legally be limited (e.g. for intent or gross negligence, or claims under German product liability law).

9.

9.

Termination

We may suspend or revoke a license if these terms are violated (e.g. fraud, license-key sharing, circumvention of activation). You may stop using Lapiz at any time; a one-time-purchased license isn’t refunded solely because you choose to stop using it, outside of the withdrawal right in Section 4.

10.

10.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. If you’re a consumer, this doesn’t deprive you of protections you’re entitled to under the mandatory law of your own country of residence.

11.

11.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of Lapiz or Lightbox after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms. Material changes will be reasonably communicated (e.g. noted on this page, or by email for active subscribers where appropriate).
